MacWherter Wins in Appellate Court for County Treasurer
Kile MacWherter, Clark County Republican, was declared duly elected county treasurer after a recount reversed an initial Turner lead. Harold Turner, Democratic candidate, had contested results in 1962. Illinois Appellate Court issued a unanimous decision in favor of MacWherter. Turner may seek further appeal to the Illinois Supreme Court.

Thompson Wins Second in Tractor Contest
John D. Thompson took second place in the M and W Gear Company World Tractor Pulling Contest at Gib son City Illinois on September 20.
