The Clark county teachers association met last Friday with 154 of 156 teachers present and many visitors. T N Wright of Casey delivered the keynote on a parent's view of a teacher’s duty after Mr Dickerson’s absence. Misses Caroline Sneff Eva Honderich and Alvina Nitsche provided excellent solos.
At the request of many customers Lockard's expanded its general merchandise with a new line of post cards. The large stock features the latest ideas in a popular fad. Every card is on sale at 1 cent each, including some cards sold elsewhere at 2 4 4 cents.
Judge Thompson expressed that it was fortunate no oil was found in the Marshall Oil and Gas Co. dispute. He noted that if oil had been discovered many investors would have claimed partnership and filed suits.
The United States filed suits against Illinois Oil Co and other firms in this county for polluting the Wabash River. Attorneys B. M. Davison and Sam Scholfield traveled to St. Louis this week to represent interested parties.

Arthur Poorman as receiver for the Bank of West Union issued another 30 per cent dividend to creditors last Friday bringing total repayments to 85 per cent. Judge Thompson approved Poorman to receive 2000 dollars for his services as receiver last week.
John Gagen will hold a public sale of horses cattle sheep hogs and household goods at his place 2 miles northwest of Marshall on Monday December 5.

The letter from Sugarland Texas dated November 19 1910 reports bountiful crops in Fort Bend County with corn selling 60 cents per bushel oats 35 to 60 bushels per acre cotton yields of one third to one bale per acre and a hog market at good prices. Land values cited from 35 to 200 dollars per acre and a frost last week with no hard freezes. C J Berney signs off with health good and regards to Clark County friends.
Recent heavy rains overflowed the sewer flooding the basement and leaving a stench. The high school basketball team played Ohio Oil last Thursday with Oil losing. Miss Bishop Latin instructor spent Thursday in Danville. Two students will leave school this week due to moving Miss Marian Due el freshman and George Brown sophomore. The Junior class enjoyed a chemie roast on Big Creek Tuesday evening with Miss Charlotte Smith chaperone and Prof Williams as chef.

Cork and Black contractor A Tyler and Jacob Meebling faced a suit for the use of plaintiff's drilling tools at an experimental oil well northwest of the city. Judge AAMS stn ruled for the plaintiff awarding 24.88. The court held subscribers to the enterprise could not be partners. appeal noted but likely dropped. Charles Kinsley pled guilty to disorderly conduct with a $25 fine and costs as the term closed and the court adjourned Saturday.
Coroner Russell completes a tally of 24 violent deaths in Williamson County over two months. The figures include murder cases, mysterious disappearances, two child deaths by fire, and miners found dead in bed. The pace suggests about three such deaths weekly in the area.
Sr Roland Hazen of the Paris hospital visited the city yesterday. In six months under Hazen the building has undergone a total overhaul and now offers first class private hospice facilities. The hospital is full, reflecting community confidence, with special attention to surgical cases given Hazen’s nine years at New York City hospitals.
