Ambush Killing of Mr and Mrs Rivers Shocks Lexington
Mr and Mrs Jack Rivers were ambushed on their drive from Cincinnati to Lexington Kentucky and fatally shot. Rivers died at once with two gunshot wounds to the back while Mrs Rivers died days later after being injured in the side and leg. A suspect is in custody in Lexington as authorities investigate the ambush. Funeral services were held at the family home with American Legion honor and burial at Marshall Cemetery in a single grave. Mrs Rivers survived by her mother Mrs Bass Hill and siblings Russell Cabbot Mrs Aaron Kile and Miss Maude Hill.

A Ford coupe owned by Dana Huddleston of Casey was stolen from its parking spot at Eighth and Walnut streets in Terre Haute Sunday evening. The next morning a newsboy alerted police to three men robbing a drug store, and the car was recovered. Walter Evans of Hammond Indiana Theodore Nickotalezky of Hammond and Charles Eldred of Terre Haute were arrested and confessed to four additional store robberies that evening. The car remained within the city.

Boys Escape and Then Arrested in Indiana Incident
Ned Boots and Cary Rush, arrested last week for interfering with the city fire department during a Kerr fire, were held in the city lockup until Friday night. Federal authorities were expected Thursday but arrived Saturday. The pair escaped by breaking the lock and were later found at their Crawfordsville home where Indiana officials took charge.
