Farmer James Bailey Dies of Typhoid at 60
James Bailey a prominent Oliver area farmer died Wednesday from typhoid fever. A son also died from the same illness about a week earlier. He leaves a wife and eight children. Lions cancel Sunday night club plan at fairground
Marshall Lions had funded custodian Mike Reeley at the fairground and allowed use of the Scout Building for Sunday appointments. A man rented the space for five Sundays and advertised a nightclub style show for November 8. The Lions acted quickly to cancel, reclaiming cards and stopping the event.

A telegram from Senator Everett Dirksen reports Soil Conservation Service will help prepare a work plan for preliminary investigations and surveys for the Mill Creek Watershed Project in Clark and Edgar counties covering about 80000 acres. The project, sponsored by Clark and Edgar Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Marshall and Paris, seeks technical and financial aid under the Flood Prevention Act to assist organized farmers facing floods droughts and erosion.
