Switchman Godden Killed in Vandalia Yard Accident
George Godden a switchman on the Vandalia was instantly killed at Terre Haute’s east yard about 10 o clock Sunday night by a freight car during hump switching. He spent most of his life in Marshall and was 32. He leaves a wife and one daughter. The body was brought here and funeral services were held at Cicera Bussard’s home.

Obituary and church notices for Mrs. Jacob Metz
Mrs. Jacob Metz died at the home of her daughter Mrs. William Knipe after a long illness of heart trouble at 77 years nine months. Funeral services were held at the Knipe home conducted by Rev. H D Hudson with two assistants. She was born Harriet Louisa Smith in Osnaburg Ohio February 18 1841 and lived in Marshall since childhood. She married Jacob Metz January 22 1861 and had eight children, four died in infancy, including daughters J C Perdue and R R Lynn. Survived by husband son Charles Metz daughter Mrs. William Knipe sister Mrs. F C Bruner brother W C Smith and many relatives. Death of Delphia Seigel Woods Amid Influenza Toll
Delphia Seigel Woods born November 18 1899 in Sullivan County Indiana died November 3 1918 in a Champaign hospital after contracting influenza. She married Otto M Woods April 18 1918 and moved to Sidney Illinois where he enlisted four months later. She joined the Christian church in 1916 and is survived by her husband her parents and an elderly grandmother among other relatives. A short service was led by Rev Chalk Baill at her old home and burial followed in Bradbury cemetery.
