Mrs. Lydia A. German aged 79 died at her home on November 15. She was born in Pennsylvania on July 16, 1840. Funeral services were held at the home with interment at Marshall cemetery. She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters Mrs. Mart Thompson and Mrs. Wm Cline of Marshall, and son William of Brazil Indiana, and son George.

Death of Jay G. English noted in Catlin community
Jay G. English known as Greenough died at his Catlin Illinois home around 8:00 am Thursday. A longtime Clark County resident and former Marshall teacher he served as principal of Marshall schools and rail mail clerk for Danville lines. He married Katherine Barnett in 1876 and left six children, two sons and four daughters, plus six grandchildren and five brothers. The funeral was held Monday at his home with Rev. M G Coleman and Rev. Merle English officiating. burial in Fairmount cemetery.

Thos. H. Findley near Marshall and Mary Lake wed Thursday at noon in the Methodist parsonage. R. L. Riley of Marshall and Edna Leek of Terre Haute wed in Terre Haute the same day. John A. Medley Jr. of Dennison and Hazel Hewitt of Dennison married in Marshall shortly after noon Thursday. Harvey Sanders of Marshall and Mrs. Lettie Moore of Effingham wed Monday night at the county clerk's office and will establish home on their farm four miles northwest of Marshall.

Wreck Halts Vandalia Train Service Near Casey
Seven coal cars derailed on the Vandalia line near Casey damaging about half a mile of track. A broken axle caused the wreck. 500 ties will be needed to repair. No injuries reported and normal service resumed at 1:00 p m.
