Italians remove old Big Four Tracks on Michigan street

Last week a crew of Italians began removing the old Big Four Tracks and sidings on Michigan street. Work will finish this week and all traces of railroading will be gone.

Circuit Court Cases Heard Last Tuesday

Judge Harry I Hannah opened circuit court in Marshall last Tuesday. Cases included Lana Gillis v Benjamin Gillis for divorce with contempt citation heard. defendant remanded to Sheriff. Grace Orn dorff vs Mary Kirby et al partition report by special master in chancery approved. Anita Hepler granted divorce from William Hepler for desertion. Grand jury deferred. clerk to draw forty jurors for November term. venire to be delivered for December 9 at 9:00 a.m.

Mitchells Buy Two Marshall Lots at Archer and Seventh

A contract and down payment have been made to Dr Earl Mitchell and Dr Frank S Mitchell for two business lots at Archer Avenue and Seventh Street in Marshall. New owners Johnie Snedeker Bill Cauldwell and Fenton R Quinn plan an office building at the site.

Rotary Foundation Week Observed by Marshall Club

The Rotary Club of Marshall joins about 10,000 clubs in 106 countries to mark Rotary Foundation Week November 10 16. A guest from Finland Pertti Korpiit attends the meeting to discuss international relations as Rotary Foundation Fellowships totaling over 2.25 million dollars have funded 953 scholarships since 1947 for study abroad in 42 countries.

Former Auburn Resident Dies in Kankakee

Lyman H. Freeman formerly of Auburn township died at his Kankakee home November 8 at age 72. Survived by widow Leverne son Lyman Jr daughter Emily and two granddaughters. Marshall mourners included Philip Spittler Dean Spittler and others from nearby towns.

Lovett Named Pool Manager for Lion’s Park Season

The Lions Municipal Swimming Pool management hires T. R. Lovett as manager for the year starting November 1. Dale Davis is chosen to head lifeguards and will receive Red Cross water safety training to teach facility use at Lincoln Trails State Park for the Marshall Lions Club.

Marshall Couple Given Marriage License in Terre Haute

Frank M. Drake 42 of Marshall and Miss Margaret D. Lee 25 of the Western Union Telegraph office in Marshall were issued a marriage license in Terre Haute on Tuesday. Mildred Cooper and Ralph Hancock of Paris attended the Terre Haute wedding of Freda Snedeker of Marshall and Thomas Vice of Paris. John L. Strohm, who has been touring the world, returned home Wednesday with his parents Mr and Mrs Charles Strohm and Mack meeting him in New York.

County 4-H Fall Show Highlights County Winners

The Marshall high school hosted 103 exhibits at the county 4-H fall show on Saturday. Clarence Douglas won top corn honors with 99 bushels per acre and will advance to the state show in January. Several blue ribbon winners were named across corn, soybeans, grain, handicraft, electricity, tractor maintenance, and party-a-month displays with cash awards presented by Clark Service Company manager Mr. Martin.

Clark County Homemaker Demo Promotes Meat Cutting
