Republicans Have Victory in Election in Clark County

Republicans claim victory across the state and county races. In Clark County Hamilton carried the 34th District by about 1500 over Howard, with each county about 500 in favor. Holaday won the 18th District by a large majority over Dennis. The road bond issue appears to carry locally, and several county offices changed hands as Cork Baxter Bennett Davis Clark were elected. James Lockard Gard Laid To Rest With Full Military Rites

Marshall Post of the American Legion accorded full military rites at the funeral of James Lockard Gard buried in Marshall cemetery on Tuesday October 28. Gard son of Daniel and Emma Gard lived near Marshall until age nine joined the U S Army and died on October 15 while stationed at Colon Isthmus of Panama. He is survived by several sisters and brothers in the Marshall area.

The city council met at city hall for a routine session Monday evening. Bills were presented, discussed briefly, and ordered paid before adjournment.

Casey Man Dies Sudden on Traction Car

C F Dare of Casey Illinois died suddenly on a Terre Haute Indianapolis and Eastern Traction Co line east of Greencastle Indiana last night of an acute indigestion attack. He boarded the car at Indianapolis and died near Amo while en route to Terre Haute.

Marshall Football to Play Oblong on Armistice Day

The Marshall football team will meet Oblong at the local field on Armistice Day Tuesday. A Halftime program will be presented by the American Legion and the Marshall band will perform. It remains unsure if Marshall will face Garfield on November 15 at Marshall or Terre Haute and the November 1 game was postponed due to players recovering from smallpox vaccination.
