Long the Patis youth, arrested during the horse show for bootlegging liquor, pleaded guilty in county court to carrying concealed weapons. He received a fine of 25 and costs and was returned to jail. He offered to testify against others in exchange for immunity, but the proposal was rejected.
The legislature defeated Gov. Deneen's deep waterway commission bill by a 65 to 60 vote. The proposal to obtain water power sites from Lockport to Utica was rejected, ending a multi year fight. Representatives Miller and Poorman voted no while Hollenbeck missed session due to family illness.
Miss Bon Durant and Mr Hunt under the South Bend Conservatory of Music Bureau direct a joint recital at the Congregational church on November 9. Durant is praised as a pianist of marked facility and Hunt is noted for wide fame as a vocalist.

Cromwall Pearce died last Thursday at his home six miles southwest of the city after a brief illness. A Maryland native, he lived in Clark County 74 years and was twice married, with two children surviving. Funeral services were held Saturday in the Christian church conducted by Rev. D. D Burt.
Woodford Oran Mills born April 19 1881 in Clark county died October 23 1911. He married Maud Barkalow November 29 1902 and they had one son Kenneth. Mills longtime teacher at Hatton, united with Island Grove Baptist church February 20 1900. Survived by wife son father one sister and many relatives. Funeral by Elder J L Cox at Olive Branch church. burial beside his mother in nearby cemetery.
Observers report Beljawsky s comet visible before dawn with a hazy tail toward the northwest. Astronomers note the tail appears split with one section hazy, first observed by Beljawsky, a Russian astronomer, in September. The year has seen a surge of new comets, around twelve since January 1.
Rev D D Burt will start a revival at the Christian church with Clinton B Knowles of Decatur as soloist and evangelistic helper. Services begin 7 50 evenings with song service and Bible reading in the first half hour. Next Sunday morning is home coming day and all members and friends are urged to attend.
Susan N Misner of Johnson township seeks divorce from William Misner after one year of marriage citing cruel treatment and asks for an injunction to prevent disposal of property. Elnora Davis files for divorce from Jefferson C Davis alleging extreme cruelty and desertion. married May 1910 and have one little girl.
Judge Thompson, busy with appellate duties, postpones the No vember term of the circuit court to Monday December 4. Petit juries will not need to appear before that date. Terre Haute men Charles Pearson and Fredz are noted in a separate item about a dog purchase and a high value sale.
