Springfield Assembly Faces Gridlock Amid Bill Backlog
In the present legislative session the Republicans show deep rifts and inability to pass laws. Since it began five months ago 550 senate bills and 798 house bills were introduced only 19 senate and 21 house bills have become law. The House calendar lists about 250 bills and 60 senate bills proceeding, while the Senate holds 180 senate bills and 60 house bills. Only 40 bills have passed both houses in five months with remaining days unlikely to accomplish more than the budget and road bill. Two thirds of introduced bills sit shelved unused.

Car Over Embankment Injures Two Near National Road
Jake Remlinger and Goldie Tabscot suffered injuries when their car rolled down a steep embankment on the north side of the National road near James Cork’s home. The vehicle slid down after the ground gave way with slow hill ascent. Remlinger sustained a badly injured spine, Tabscot had minor injuries and helped pull Remlinger from the wreck.
