In Washington discussions unfold about public tours and citizen roles. The scene shifts between political figures like Charles Foster and ordinary locals debating how best to view the capital while managing costs and expectations.
Members of the state board of administration plan to vote on a site for the new state charitable institution. President Lawrence Y. Sherman along with Norbury and OConnor visited Alton to inspect four proposed sites near the city. Tomorrow they will tour East St. Louis and Belleville as discussions continue. More than seventy sites are under consideration.
A Los Angeles Times car left Los Angeles on the 16th for an ocean to ocean tour following the Ocean to Ocean route. It will pass Marshall and use the old National Road, likely to be included in the new trail. The trip aims to aid the good roads movement and the effort to improve the old National Road.
The high school will begin with the baccalaureate sermon next Sunday at 8 p m in the Methodist church by Rev C F Baker district superintendent. Commencement exercises are proper in the Pythian Theatre on Friday evening June 7 with Prof H W Shryock of Carbondale normal school delivering the address.
The Men's Brotherhood A branch was organized in the M. B. church last Friday evening. Officers were elected with H. R. Snave lys as president, Frank Hurat and Charles Smith as vice presidents, Roy Jeffords and J. N. Nicholson as vice presidents, Thomas Fishbacky as secretary, E. B. Selple as treasurer, and Charles Flowerg as chaplain.
The Marshall Board of Education elected Howard Craig as superintendent and Arthur Rackerby as principal of the south side school. Craig, a seasoned educator, has led Will County schools for years. The board also announced staff changes including music instructor Miss Maytie Simmons and consolidation of 7th and 8th grades in one building.

The Mt Carmel Republican argues that a national ticket defeat is not the main reason for party friction this fall. It tempers blame on Taft Roosevelt splits and cites government post office policies oppressing country newspapers as a bigger factor by hindering publishers with costly red tape.

The junior class hosted a unique reception for the class of 12 at the high school on Friday night. The south room featured pink and green decor, sy tinga blossoms, and wild columbine. A dance program included a flower romance moonlight promenade a diary of the fray's events a faculty quartet and a two course supper. The event closed with class yells and the high school song We're loyal to you Marshall High, leaving many noting it as memorable.

Felix Blankenbeker, Martinsville township native, was nominated by Republicans of Indiana's 5th district at Terre Haute for Congress. He has built a legal career in Terre Haute and is regarded as having a strong chance to win the seat.
