Tips for Radio Antenna Height and Tuning Adjustments
An article explains that raising a flat top radio antenna by five to ten feet can improve signals. It covers adding a variable condenser to primary or secondary, tuning coil sliders, and soldering flexible wire to sliders to avoid poor contacts. Recommendations include using spreader wires of two to four feet, with four to six feet spacing between each wire and neighbor, noting multiple wires offer no real gain.

Grounding Aerials to Prevent Lightning Hazards
Aerials should be properly grounded with copper wire no smaller than gauge 4, connected to an outside ground. Internal water gas or steam pipes must not serve as the grounding path to avoid fire and loss of life. Grounding turns an aerial into a lightning rod protecting property.
