Severe Wabash River Storm Hits Terre Haute Area
A storm reaching tornado proportions struck the east bank of the Wabash River in Terre Haute Sunday night around 10 oclock, causing destruction across the area. More than 300 houses were destroyed or badly damaged and 17 people reported killed. The Ohio school house ten miles south of Marshall was demolished. Harry Mauks barn was razed and two horses killed. The Herald and Terre Haute Star offered a two-town annual subscription deal ending Monday.
