Sheriff Catches Filling Station Robbers Near Montrose

Death Notice of Euclid Marshall Duncan at 78 in Marshall
Euclid Marshall Duncan aged 78 died at his home in Marshall Sunday night. Born February 4 1850 in Warren County Kentucky he studied at Philadelphia and Louisville medical schools. He served as physician at Eddyville state prison before moving to Marshall in 1890. He later ran a drug store with wife Cora Duncan until five years ago. Funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 pm at his residence conducted by Rev. R H Bristol with interment in Marshall cemetery. He is survived by his wife and two brothers Woodford and Buckner.

Illinois Gasoline Tax Declared Unconstitutional
The Illinois Supreme Court ruled Friday that the 2 cent gasoline tax, in force since August 1, 1927, is unconstitutional. The tax brought in about 700,000 to 1,000,000 dollars monthly, with fuel companies often adding a third cent to cover collection costs. Governor Len Small backed the measure during the last legislative session.
