The Adventures and Explorers groups of the Armstrong V C S hosted a June 14 Lincoln Trail State Park outing for Armstrong youth and Marshall graduates Charles Setzer Donald Baggs Hyla Kuhn and Judith Ann Martin. Activities included hiking boating and a lakeside vesper themed What Advice Would You Give to Youth.

Elementary Education Conference and Exhibit
A. J. Tyler elementary supervisor of Marshall Schools attended the Eastern Illinois University summer education conference June 18 and 19. He served on a panel on whether foreign language belongs in elementary schools, with other discussions on reading in the kindergarten and elementary science and homework policies. About one hundred companies participated in the exhibit with representatives discussing educational materials.

Marshall Ladies Golf League hosts invitational at local course
The Marshall Ladies Golf League welcomed Paris Country Club and Casey Country Club for an invitational on the local course. Prizes were awarded after lunch at The Colonial Kitchen with multiple low gross and low net winners from Casey Marshall Paris and Terre Haute areas. The next event schedules guests from Robinson and Terre Haute clubs with coffee at 8:30 a.m. and tee-off at 9 a.m. A Coon family reunion is planned for June 24 at the Clark County Fairgrounds with a basket dinner at noon.

The Women of the Moose held a meeting Tuesday June 12 to elect new officers for the year. Officers named include Dora Bays senior regent, Ve e Frets chief, Aletha Myles recorder, Helen Bruner senior member, Kathryn Adams assistant guide, and Flossie Clat Felter. Installation is set for Thursday June 28 with a pot lunch to follow. all coworkers are invited.
