Burial of Mrs Penina Chaffee Delayed to Await Daughter
The body of Mrs Penina Chaffee arrived by the six o'clock train from San Francisco on Monday evening. She died in early March and burial was delayed for a California daughter. Burial took place at Dunlap Cemetery at 10 a.m. yesterday. Mrs Chaffee leaves five daughters, two in California, two in Chicago, and one living west of Marshall with her son-in-law Alvin Fraker.

George C Canedy Dies at 34 in Marshall Illinois
George C Canedy railway mail clerk on the Cairo division of the Big Four railroad died at his home in Marshall at 8:00 this morning after a year and a half of illness. He was born near Hutsonville on September 21 1855 and was 34 years 8 months and 11 days old. Surviving are his wife Clara Schumaker and one son Glenn, his parents and several siblings. Funeral is set for Saturday at the Congregational church in Marshall.

City council orders water meters and halts car washing
At Monday night’s meeting the council ordered water meters in garages and other high use areas and stopped car washing in alleys. Elder Lee Pat Foley and the Poor Farm may run a light line to connect to the city system under supervision. a Maple Street sewer petition was allowed. A worn belt at the light plant will be replaced, and the annual appropriation was approved.
