Thirty two relatives and friends gathered at Deming Park Sunday to celebrate Miss Sarah Smith of Terre Haute. Attendants included Mr and Mrs Finkbiner, Erma Miller, Freda Hawker, and Ross Ber.
The Golden Star 4-H club led by Kelley Shawver joins Rainbow Girls 4-H club of Westfield and Martinsville Boosters 4-H club to light candles symbolizing 4-H ideals. Shoya and other Clark County members join in the presentation with community sponsors and local leaders guiding the event.
Mrs. Rachel Hutchings hosted the Clarksville Birthday Club on July 8 with strong attendance. Members present included Lucile Kirchner Connie Carr Josephine Carr Linda Creta Gary David Joseph Clarine Hornbrook Michael Ferris Elia Reeley Clara Chilton Cletus Baker Daisy Wyrick Maggie Miller Bertha Buckner. Alpha Morgan and Maggie Miller received birthday cards. August meeting planned at Clarine Hornbrook’s home.
Mr and Mrs J A Connerton announce the birth at Union Hospital on July 10 of a 7 pound 5 ounce boy named Vincent Joy.
Mrs. Sally Redman Weaver of Vermilion and Mr. Robert Weaver announce the birth of Cynthia Sue weighing seven pounds nine ounces at Paris Hospital on July 11. In Terre Haute at Union Hospital, twins Roberts born July 9 at 9:51 and 10:00 with weights six pounds fourteen ounces and seven pounds one ounce respectively. The Denny family notes the twins are their third and fourth children.
Multiple obituaries note deaths of Samuel Carney 88 at St Anthony Hospital Terre Haute and Alice Robinson 74 at Pariy Hospital with survivors including widow Sarah Carney and daughters Edith Gard and Florence Etcinson. Ed Clapp 89 and Mrs. Ed Clapp survived by husband Edmund and children. services at Clarksville Baptist Church and Moore Funeral Home. Burial in Clarksville cemetery. Mair and Marrs Funeral Homes cited for arrangements.
Mrs Carrie B Mathew 81 died Wednesday morning at Paris Hospital She is survived by husband Will son Roy and daughter Mrs Martha Noyes all of Marshall and brother Ben Medley of Terre Haute The body was brought to the Moore chapel Friday at 2 00 p m Rev Alex Porteus will officiate burial will be in Marshall Cemetery

The Marshall Knights of Pythias planned a large marching delegation for a Terre Haute parade honoring visiting uniform rank.

Local obituaries note the death of Gladys Hanley Wren in North Carolina at high altitude. Clarence Broadhurst, 10, died in Covina California. Funeral and burial details follow in Marshall and West Union. Louise Lickert joins a Twin Lakes camping trip from Paris with other girls. Roy Fix announces the arrival of a baby boy. W A Williams and granddaughter Irene Carpenter visit Joe’s family south of Marshall. A birthday dinner honors Mr. Bubeck’s 75th year with relatives in attendance.
Twenty years ago in 1934 a miscellaneous shower for bride elect Miss Etta Mae Mitchell was hosted by Mrs. R A Mitchell on South Sixth Street. Attendees included Miss Helen Morton and several named friends. announcement of Everett M Harbor and Harry Harbor marriage plans was made.
A Sunday at Kakamack Park saw Frank Haenig and Mrs. E B Stanton with families including Ed Shaefer and Geo Heenig. The gathering honored Frank and Herman Haenig's birthdays with drinks and good company.

Ten Years Ago 1944 announces the birth of Cheryl Diane weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces born Sunday July 9 at Paris Hospital. John Sullivan returned home Wednesday from Union Hospital after eight weeks with a broken back. Miss Wilma Geisert travels to St Louis to visit Mrs Alene Galbreath and daughter. Mrs W W Ralston of North Sixth Street, longtime Graham Bible Sunday School member, will be 79 on the 30th.
Judge Spivey opened the July term in Marshall with docket settings planned for September. A modification granted in the Craig divorce allows biweekly custody, and a partition sale proceeds order was signed in Snyder v Lovell. Paris Hospital filed judgments against several Maloney family members. Kathryn Louise Pennington wed Paul E Hipple at St Pauls Church Carlinville with Rev. Shift officiating.

Frank Cauldwell owner of the 10c store introduces Marshall to a complete cooling system. The five ton Brunner unit is installed in the basement with duct work feeding the shopping area and Freon gas refrigeration. The system uses no water and integrates oil heating for winter comfort.
The Martin Branson reunion will be held at the Clark County Fair grounds in Marshall next Sunday July 18. All relatives and friends are invited.
Miss Cecile Fay White of Dennison daughter of Mr and Mrs P M White has returned from a two week visit to San Francisco California and surrounding territory. She traveled by T W A via Chicago to reach her relatives including her brother and uncle.
At Marvin E Allred’s farm in Wabash township visitors gathered for an annual threshing event held last Saturday July 10. The J I Case steam engine powered the separator as bundles fed in and wheat loaded for transport. County Clerk H J Kemp appeared with a bundle while old timers recalled past mill days and a big dinner tradition faded with time. Artie A Allred helped with cleanup and chatter about earlier times filled the scene.
