The residence at AAO east Main street owned by Marshall Building and Loan Association and occupied by Mrs. George Howard and family burned shortly after noon last Wednesday. Most household goods were saved. Investigators believe the blaze started in the kitchen flue.

Illinois Crop Report Shows Strong July Forecasts
The government crop report for Illinois released Monday predicts corn at 8,000,000 bushels with last year at 306,800,000. Wheat is forecast at 24,200,000 bushels versus 16,225,000 last year. Oats 194,000,000 bushels vs 172,095,000. Potatoes 14,080,000 vs 7,250,000. Apples 2,690,000 barrels vs 1,616,000. The national outlook is similarly encouraging.

Widow of John A Welsh Dies at Home in Wabash Township
Emma Stoelting Welsh, born December 15 1861 in Clark county, died July 4 1917 at her home in Wabash township after a long illness. She married John A Welsh on March 2 1881 and mothered eight children Herman Hurley Frank Walter Mrs P C Miller Noah Anna Arthur. Survived by husband three brothers three sisters five grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral Saturday at her home conducted by Rex W D Russell with interment in the Livingston cemetery.

Two Killed In Street Duel On Jewett Main Street
Charles Hoover foreman for Seamse Bros Mattoon contractors and Marcus Merenan Cumberland County farmer died after a street duel on Jewett main street Tuesday evening. Hoover sought satisfaction for an attack by Morgan on Thomas Hoover father of Charles. Eleven shots were fired before both men fell dead on the pavement.
