Clark County Fair Tractor Pulling Contest at a Glance
About 100 tractors competed across four classes at the 1963 Clark County Fair. For 1964 officials split events over two days August 14 and 15 with light and medium weights Friday and heavy weights Saturday. Marshall youths set for Vandalia sectional in 1964 jamboree
The second hurdle for Marshall youth track stars comes Saturday July 11 at Vandalia Illinois as they contest the sectional meet to win one of 700 state jamboree spots. Eight Marshall boys and girls qualified from June 20 and will ride to Vandalia with transportation by the Marshall Jaycees. Spectators welcome. Six men were shot in Terre Haute last week and a mower's cut finger was pried with a hand. Marriage licenses were issued to Lawrence Drommond Melrose and Gertrude Draggo York, Clyde Churchill and Clella Cole Casey Martinsville. Wheat sells for 70 cents a bushel. A Fourth of July celebration caused a granary fire when firecrackers ignited roof material, but the residence was saved.

Mrs Mildred Jared informed her husband Pvt Harold M Jared was killed in action June 13 in France. Flight officer Warren E Berner awarded Wings in 44 F Class at Altus Army Air Base Oklahoma June 27.

The Clark County Fair sponsors the Miss Clark County Queen Contest for the sixth year. In 1963 there were 13 contestants. Miss Judy Heath served as Miss Clark County Fair. Elaine Goekler chairs in 1964 and invites interested contestants aged 16 to 22 who are single. Judging covers beauty, form, posture, charm, personality, and stage presence.
