On Tuesday April 6 from 6:00 a m to 6:00 p m every legal voter in Marshall may vote in elections for four year city government. The article presents two complete ticket slates for city offices and urges voters to choose qualified candidates for the City Council to improve Marshall’s governance.
The slate lists Mayor Wayne Pennell City Clerk Clayton Rhoads City Treasurer S T Deahl Alderman Ward 1 Ted Trefz Bernard D Lee 2 year term Ward 2 Warren Strohm Ward 3 8 Doyle E Hills Ward 4 Kenneth Low with election set for April 20 1985.

Mr and Mrs James Riggs announce the birth of twin sons born Saturday February 13 at Union Hospital Terre Haute. Timothy George weighs 4 pounds 5 ounces and Thomas Alan weighs 4 pounds 4 ounces. Mrs Riggs is the former Janice Hollingsworth.
The Pikes Peak Patriots 4-H club hosts a pie and box supper on February 27 at 7 30 p.m. at the old Pikes Peak school. Women are asked to bring pies or boxes for the men to buy. See you there.

The Illinois high school regional basketball tournament opens Monday in Marshall with Paris versus Casey at 6 45 p m and Newman against the district winner at 8 15 p m. Charleston meets Martinsville and Marshall faces Oakland on Tuesday with 7 45 p m game times through Friday. The Marshall regional winner advances to Olney sectional next week. Paris and Charleston have the best records with 38 wins and 8 losses combined. Paris 20 4 and Charleston 18 4.
The Illinois Education Association Eastern Division meeting requires rescheduling the board of education’s next session to Thursday March 18. Topics include district reorganization transportation revenue reform and health code compliance. Elections and staff matters for 1965 66 are on the agenda with petitions due March 20 and the election set for April 10 1965.
The Lincoln Trail Riders Saddle Club met February 18 at 7:30 p m at Mrs. Nancy Weist home. Vice-President Russell Litteral chaired due to the president absence. Alton Blankenship and Brenda Blankenship resigned. Hugh Fyfe of Paris and Nancy Weist named new officers. Ribbons for shows ordered and show venue contact planned. John Adams released from Union Hospital returns home in Marshall.
Miss Lois Long, missionary to Northern Rhodesia, will speak at 7:00 p m next Sunday February 28 at the Marshall Pilgrim Holiness Church. A nurse and former hospital worker she will share field experiences, display curios, and invite the community to hear about her mission work and the people she served.
Sunday February 14 six Clark county families residing at Happy Day Trailer Park Auburndale Florida gathered at the Ralph and Myrtle Morgan trailer for a pot luck dinner on the patio in 85 degree weather. Attendees included Roscoe Walker Verle Zellars Letha Lester Thelma Stull Ray Neema Curt right Nat Grace Fitzgarrald all of Martinsville and Charles Merle Moore West Union Goldie Staley of St Louis Missouri visiting the Fitzgarralds. Late callers were Harry Walker and family of Orlando Florida. Mr Walker is a former school superintendent at Martinsville. A wonderful visit was enjoyed by all.

Miriam Cole arrives at St Anthony Hospital in Terre Haute on February 20 at noon, daughter of Mr and Mrs Fenton Cole. Hurley Duran, living east of Marshall, attacked Sunday night in his garage and robbed after a head battering. Ralph Morgan and Violet Costello, both 25, listed for marriage. Miss Martha Bush and James Richard Markle wed Friday at the First Congregational Church of Marshall in a ceremony performed by Dr. Paul Koester. The church featured Christmas decorations as the couple exchanged vows.
The Marshall PTA thanks the community for support as 1 063 people were served at the chili supper on February 18 with total gross of 865 15 dollars and after expenses approx 627 dollars net. The seventh grade basketball game added 85 15 dollars. The association funds a teacher's scholarship with recent recipients Nancy Young Susan Moore and Maurice Miller. The PTA supports local school projects including shower facilities at South Elementary. The next meeting is March 15 with a safety program by Sergeant B J Behler George Brubaker and Joe Ryan. Several volunteers are pictured assisting with the supper.
