Jacob B R Laufman dies at home on North Sixth Street after a long illness from Brights disease. Funeral at the family home conducted by Rev D D Burt with interment in the city cemetery. He was 56 and survived by wife Kate Lewis and three children, plus four sisters and two brothers. Former Edgar county deputy, later a traveling salesman, Christian Church and Mason member.

A Friday blizzard dropped nearly a foot of snow with a high wind that snarled traffic and halted business. Snowplows were finally deployed late in the day as streets remained nearly impassable.
Death of Benjamin Dawson in Westfield
Benjamin Dawson, a longtime Clark county resident, died at his home in Westfield last Friday after a long illness from dropsy. He was 82. He is survived by his wife, one daughter Mrs. Kate Tichenor, and one brother James Dawson, all of Westfield.

Death of J M Green One of Marshall Countys Oldest Citizens
James M Green aged 90 years 3 months 7 days died at his home in Marshall after weeks of illness. Funeral services were held in the Christian church with Rev D D Burt and Rev J Sweet officiating. He was born November 8 1823 in Preble County Ohio and married Margaret Lesley July 2 1842. He lived in Darwin and Henry counties before settling in Marshall in 1881. He served as justice of the peace police magistrate township collector and was a charter member and officer of Seminole Tribe S O R M. His eight children survive except three daughters and one son.

The Clark County Court of Honor met in this city yesterday electing B. M. Davison of Marshall as county chancellor and J. K. Termain of West Union as county recorder. A resolution endorsed the supreme officers for four years and instructed state delegates to vote for their reelection. Davison and Termain were also chosen as delegates to the state court meeting with Mary L. Black and Arthur Poorman as alternates.

Medical Men Meet in Clark County Society Session

Poorman Endorsed for Mattoon Postmaster Amid Opposition

First Will and Early Marriage Record Unearthed
The D A R reports the county court clerk provided the first will filed in the county John Lloyd probated September 4 1820 and the first marriage June 3 1819 between James E Moore and Hannah Lamb. The ceremony was by Justice James W Parker as the county seat stood at Aurora. Clark County then extended to the state's north border and half its width.
