Taxes as Viewed by Agricultural Association
The Agricultural Association criticizes the State Department of Revenue for failing to stabilize assessment levies. It argues the 8 to 12 percent rise in a single year creates windfalls for taxing bodies and burdens on property taxpayers, especially farmers. IRA urges immediate action to limit assessment increases while county multipliers vary. Delegates call for legislative fixing of assessment levels and plan 1959 sponsorships.
