Funeral Text Honors Collinsville Native Ben McKeen
Ben McKeen of Collinsville died last Sunday after a long illness. He served as Collinsville postmaster and later deputy revenue collector before becoming superintendent of streets. He was born February 3 1865 in Marshall Alabama and left a family of a wife Libbie Giles and three children. The funeral and cremation followed at St. Louis with interment in Glenwood. He was remembered as a loyal friend and devoted family man.

Big Four Fireman Killed In Train Wreck Near Cowling
Fireman J E Taylor was instantly killed and Engineer Dickie seriously injured when a small wreck occurred near Cowling Wednesday about midnight. A dead engine separated from freight train 82 was struck by the forward train, causing a derrick car to crash into the engine cab. Taylor’s injuries were fatal with head crushed and legs broken.

Death by Coal Oil Fire Claims Westfield Merchant
Garrett W. White a Westfield merchant died after a coal oil fire exploded when he added fuel to a dim furnace at his home Monday afternoon. His face and hands were severely burned and his clothing caught fire. Members of the family smothered the flames with blankets but he died after several hours.
