Trucker dies after fall from moving vehicle near Marshall
Jack Russell Dayhuff, 19, of Terra Haute, was killed instantly when he fell or jumped from a stone truck on U S 40 near Marshall while avoiding a west bound semi. The truck was en route to Casey. Dayhuff's body was taken to Marrs Funeral Home and later moved to Patrick-Ryan Funeral Home in Terre Haute.

State Fair contestants win secondary honors at Springfield
Debbie Heatherly Sally Bennett Amy Mallory and Robert Bennett competed in the Illinois State Fair at Springfield on August 21. About 460 contestants entered. Robert Bennett age 12 and Amy Mallory age 11 shared second place in their class for Bumble Boogie and Vanessa respectively. Debbie Heatherly age 9 won third for Song of India. Major Fletcher Dies in Germany at 42
Moss Kirby Fletcher, a U S Air Force major with the 36th Tactical Fighter Squadron, died of a heart attack in Betbury Germany on August 18. He was born September 25 1923 in Paris Illinois and is survived by his wife Helen and three sons. Burial occurred August 24 at Golden Gate Memorial Cemetery San Bruno California. James L Paddock has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Kentucky Air Force National Guard. He will begin fifty five weeks of pilot training on September 6 before returning to the guard.
