Air Force Band of the Midwest to headline Palestine Labor Day
The Air Force Band of the Midwest will lead Palestine's Labor Day parade on September 5 and perform a concert at Leaverton Park. Based at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, this seven state touring marching ensemble has appeared at major civic events in Chicago and Michigan and marks its first Palestine appearance.

Clark County Fair Champion Steer Tops State Fair
Chris Stone, son of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Stone of Casey Route 1, showed the champion polled Hereford steer at the Illinois State Fair on Monday August 15. The steer also won best of all breeds at the Clark County 4-H show on August 9. It sold at the regular IGA auction for 57 cents a pound.

Deaths Perry Carpenter 78 Dennison
Perry Carpenter 78 of Route 1 Dennison died Thursday at Paris Hospital after noon. He is survived by his wife Bessie three sons Eugene Albert Hurley one daughter Ethel Taylor a brother William five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 30 at Moore Funeral Home with Rev Carl Carpenter officiating burial in Marshall Cemetery.

Marriage License For Farris and Setzer Of Wisconsin Township
The record notes a marriage license issued to Harry B. Farris and Nora Ruth Setzer, both of Wa bash township. A thunder storm struck the Christian Church Interstate Union causing damage. A barn on the Ed Saiter farm near Marshall was burned with its contents after a lightning strike. The Sanford Clements descendants held their second annual reunion at Andrew Knapp's near West York with 180 attendees. An open house for Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kirby of Minter Illinois will be held at the Dennison school house in Den nison on August 28 from 1 to 4 PM in observance of their 25th anniversary. They were married August 28 1941 at the bride's parents home in Dennison. The couple has one son Harold at home. He has worked 25 years with the Pennsylvania railroad, she works part time at the Kaffee Kup Kafe. They also own Phillips station at the edge of Minter.
