A severe electrical storm struck Marshall and surrounding areas Wednesday night causing extensive damage. Mrs. C O Taubeneck south of Marshall suffered serious injuries from a lightning strike on a smoke house, while her husband was bruised. Barns owned by Robt Nicol, Mike Reeley, and Ben Crowe were struck and destroyed by fire, and electric lights and telephones were out in parts of town.

Oldest County Native Keeps Farm Roots Alive

R C Leeman of Champaign, representative for Graham Paper Co., narrowly escaped death Sunday while bathing at The Rocks near Charleston. He dived from a springboard into four feet of water, struck his head on the bottom, and was rendered unconscious. He was carried from the water and received first aid before being taken home.

A Marshall party traveling to Paris was involved in a collision three miles north of Oliver. La Cole and Mrs Cole drove, with Judge and Mrs Booth in back. Mrs Cole, Judge Booth, and Mrs Booth suffered bruises. La Cole regained consciousness shortly after. John Welsh transported the injured to Marshall. Mr Cole rested well the following day.
