Gas strike boosts top sand well near Westfield
A 1916 report notes a strong gas flow struck Sunday in the Whismand lease north of Westfield in the top sand at 322 to 344 feet. The gas was cased off, drilling paused, and a stray sand containing 80 oil was found above the limestone. the well finished at 540 feet as Allied forces advance on fronts.

A truck will haul purchases to Indianapolis markets. bidding may be done locally or through a purchasing committee. Last year 52 steers 79 hogs and 9 lambs sold for $19 470 02.
