Local man Henry T. Carpenter dies by suicide
Henry T. Carpenter aged 36 took carbolic acid last Wednesday after threatening self harm. He lived with his wife and four children on South Second Street and had a history of melancholy. A coroner's jury ruled death by his own hand with funeral services held at the Christian church and burial in Marshall cemetery.

Draft Selections Begin As 220 Notices Mailed For Army Draft

Combs Buys 90 Acre Schwartz Farm In Dolson Township
Milo Combs of Dolson township completed a purchase last Thursday of 90 acres known as the Schwartz farm adjoining his own property in Conan township just west of Clarkeville.
