Arthur L. Keifer aged 43 an Indianapolis insurance salesman was instantly killed and William W. Winders about 35 a garage man was seriously injured when a Chrysler roadster turned over near the Doll orchard west of Marshall at 6 p m Sunday They were returning to Indianapolis from St Louis after attempting to pass another car they left the pavement and crashed into a ditch An inquest by Dr D L Wilhoit of Martinsville found Keifer died of a crushed head and chest Winders was treated at home for broken ribs and bruises Keifer survived by a wife and an adopted daughter. Mrs Delia Archer died yesterday at Black's Hotel at 2 p m Funeral services are set for Saturday at 2 p m.

Results show J. S. Mundy defeating Robert Schokfield 205 to 162 in the first ward. In ward two Charles O Flowers wins 151 to 116 over Lu Siverly. Third ward features Garwood over Montgomery 303 to 75 for two years and Millhouse over Steele 298 to 73 for one year. Total votes cast 1013.
No opposition appeared on either ticket in the grade and high school board races. G G Claypool gained a one year term as grade school board president with 87 votes. James Moye and Otto Clatfelter won three year terms with 85 votes each. O K Allen received 81 votes to replace Frank Brosman, with Homer Guinnip written in on 16 ballots. Arthur Guinnip was elected school trustee. High school board members Harry Bamesberger 91 votes and Fred Keifer 89 votes.
Federal Marshal H. B. Phiels arrested Merrill Snedeker in Marshall on a mail fraud charge. Snedeker appeared before U S Commissioner Thos. B. Garner in Paris, bond set at 1000 dollars, signed by his father J. Q. Snedeker of Marshall, released until the next federal term in Danville.
President Coolidge nominates Fenton W Booth of Marshall Huinets to be chief justice of the Court. The nomination followed earlier actions in Washington D C on April 18.
Clark County Republicans and Democrats met at the courthouse in Marshall Monday at 2:00 PM to organize committees. Republicans endorsed Frank O Lowden for president and chose delegates and alternates to the state convention in Springfield. Democratic delegates and alternates to the state convention were also named, with Marshall and Casey represented by several party members.
Policeman Chas Short recovered a new Chrysler 72 car stolen Saturday evening. The vehicle, owned by Turner Motor Sales of Mattoon, had been driven through Marshall with three or four trips before being parked near Hooper Plumbing. Edgar Knapp, 17, of Charleston, confessed and named Robert Barnes, 17, paroled from Pontiac reformatory, as his partner. Both youths were jailed in Mattoon after Barnes surrendered to R. O. Wiley of Charleston.
