Explosion at Klaszinsky bakery injures none on East Main Street
Fifty years ago in 1914 an underground gas leak in a pipe under the bakery floor filled the building with natural gas. A spark from a bread mixer motor caused a severe blast blowing front glass from the Klaszinsky bakery on East Main Street. No one injured. Marriage license issued to Oscar Vanhorn and Celia Moore of Martinsville. National Road electric line work begins with pole installation. A hitch rack 240 feet long is built across the street from the church, funded by Hiram Hilbert with village labor.

The Marshall High school band comprises ninety five players noted for strong half time shows and parade routines at events including the Fall Festival Christmas program Indiana State College homecoming and the Paris Labor Day parade.
