The 95th anniversary tour kickoff unleashed a huge Independence Day celebration in Marion with a dawn cannon, a two and a half mile procession, 600 wagons and 7000 people from all townships except Brown, Prairle, and Dine. The crowd enjoyed a Grove program, the Goddess Liberty delegation, music by the Springville and Cornet bands, and fireworks. Mayor Young delivered the day’s closing remarks while Maj. Young spoke on national unity and reform.
