Telegrams to John Kowler report Matt Fowler was accidentally shot while duck hunting near Socorro New Mexico. He died about two hours after the incident. Born in Williamson County about 42 years ago, he moved to New Mexico 14 years ago and married Wilte YOUR Glee in recent years. Survived by his mother Mrs Sidney Pawser of Thorn Pigee and four brothers John Charles Loven Fowler of Marion Wilt Fowler of Chicago. He served as a first sergeant in the Spanish American War and helped in the campaign that captured Aguinaldo. Funeral services and burial will be in New Mexico if possible some brothers from Marion may attend.
J W Drake of Standard X Ray Co visited Marion on Friday to install a new X ray system for Dr J C Walker's laboratory. The 4 machine supports fluoroscopic, graphic and stereoscopic work and runs on 220 volts, with upgrades pushing models above 60 000 volts.

Mrs. Winters widow of George Winters and wife of Ike Wiley died Thursday at 12 37 pm at her daughter’s home 805 South Holland Street. Born October 27 1852 she spent most of life in the area. Survivors include sons John Winters and Frank Winters daughters Floy Gill Mary Winters Nellie Bayles and Nellie Grain and George Wiley and Floyd Wiley with two children who died earlier. One brother and one sister survive. A member of the Christian church she was well known in the community. Funeral Saturday at 10 00 am at Mrs Gill’s home conducted by Rev J W McKinney with interment at Rosehill cemetery.
Marion relatives mourn Green Simpson age about 68 near Tunnel Hill. He left a widow and eight children including J Robert Simpson Ad Simpson Mrs G W Stegall Mrs W A Whiteside and Madge. funeral at Mt Pleasant church with burial in church cemetery. Gomer Casey Mrs Robert Simpson and family traveled to Tunnel Hill for services.
Misa Anna Coyle field editor of the Formar's Wife of St. Paul tested Thursday evening in Chicago and il then made a trip through Williamson and Latime counties to write up Home Bureau activities. Accompanied by Miss Stella Hutson and Miss Perne Harris she attended meetings of a variety of units in the county and found it one of the best organized in the area. Anderson Alexander of North Mall isen street, recently ill, was reported much better on Friday. Mrs. A. N. Sullivan returned to Goreville Friday after a visit in Marion with her daughter, Mrs. Thoman Wicks.

Ywill Brothers Mercantile Company exhibit Freeman Mine coal photo window. A large block of coal from Taylor Coal Co mined last month is described as the largest piece from a vein at Freeman No. 1. The block, four feet square at the base and weighing seven and a half tons, was mined last August and shipped to Chicago for the Pageant of Progress. It is now on exhibit in Chicago parks. Universities and museums in Missouri and Chicago seek to purchase the block for mineral study.
Mrs Hazel Abrams pled guilty to bigamy for marrying Ogg Haynes without divorce and is sentenced to Joliet Penitentiary for an indefinite term. Mrs Melvin Thaxton and daughter Betty Thaxton escorted the prisoner. two cases set for Thursday include Charles Cagle charged with incest and Edward Handcook charged with larceny. Court adjourned to November 18. Woodside and Jarvis murder cases scheduled for trial.

The Fall Festival at the Christian church on Friday night drew about 150 attendees. Performances by Lonuy Choate and Misa Christine Pulley, readings by Mrs. Wm. Burkhart and Miss Grissom, solos by several women, and a fortune telling tent led by Madame Zingares entertained guests. Refreshments and a small treasury boost followed, with decorating help from Miss Batte Belle Warder and Dr. Harriet Stephenson.

Officers include J W McKinney president and George Knobeloch vice president with George Campbell as secretary treasurer. Home Science leaders include Mrs Maud Lindacay and Mrs John Hook. Notable speakers comprise W K Galeener Mrs N M Dunlap Prof W T Wells Stella Hutson and Mrs J M Daniels. The schedule lists music readings and talks on home making and character with sessions Friday and Saturday.
Coroner Wil lam McCown held an inquest at Johnston City into the death of John Torino who perished in an Old Ben Mine accident. The coroner’s jury found death resulted from a fall of top coal and that Torino was killed instantly.
Mrs. A L Melntort returned home Friday after visiting her daughter Mrs Walter Heyde for a few days. Miss Ole Foster of West Frankfort was in Marion on business Friday. Mrs Will Rummage of North Washington Street, who had been here for several weeks, was reported in very critical condition on Friday.
