International headquarters of the United Mine Workers of America invites sixteen major railroad unions to unite against wage cuts. Mine workers contracts expire April first and a work stoppage could follow if no agreement is reached. President John L. Joint Funeral Held Sunday For Local Residents
A joint funeral service was held Sunday for Mr and Mrs Oscar Childers Mrs Oscar Childers Mrs John Biggs Liza Hood and son Will Mr Walter Sanders and J H in the vicinity. The rites drew over 2000 attendees and were conducted at the local cemetery with services beginning in late afternoon.

Two More Big Stills Found
Sheriff Melvin Thaxton and Deputies John Shafer and Al Richardson drove six and one half miles west from Marion on Tuesday afternoon and captured two immense stills of about 100 gallon capacity each. Mrs. Tey Durant ran the stills while her husband was in Florida for ill health. She planned to plead guilty to making the liquor though she had only helped her husband. A few days and Mrs. Durant would have been in the wholesale business, as she had fifty one barrels of corn ready for the big stills.
