Regents approve renovation plan for Old Gym at Sul Ross
The Board of Regents of the Texas State University System approves Sul Ross State University project to convert the Old Gym into a large classroom, multiple smaller rooms, drafting and computer labs, seminar spaces, and offices. Roof replacement, exterior treatment, and a handicapped elevator are planned. Also approved were department consolidations, practice teaching affiliations with several school districts, and gifts acknowledgments. Dr. Lister chairs the new Languages and Literature Department. Dr. Baeza to direct Minority Affairs. Deans and chairs appointed. affiliation agreements with Alpine, Balmorhea, Culberson, Eagle Pass, Fort Davis, Fort Stockton, Marathon, Marfa, Monahans-Wickett-Pyote, Pecos-Barstow-Toyah, and San Felipe del Manuel Acosta. A transportation proposal for seniors, certificates for charter members, and music by Hernandez Jr. and Navarro are noted. The Nutrition Center, funded by the City of Marfa and West Texas Council of Governments, celebrates eight years serving 60-plus adults with meals and a meals-on-wheels program.
