A Marfa feature on the mysterious lights is set to air on NBC Today at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday June 28 with an NBC crew having visited the area months earlier. An advance team from Unsolved Mysteries scouted locations here last week for a possible segment. Publicity may continue later this year.

Marfa police investigated a burglary at Audio-Visual on East El Paso Street where a large stick broke a plate glass window. Radios cassette players ear phones speakers and other audio equipment valued at 1041 dollars were stolen. The theft was reported at 2 a.m. Saturday by a passerby.

Arlington cop honored for bravery in 1988 shootout
Joe Chavez, a 28 year old Arlington Police Department officer and former Marfa resident, received the Medal of Valor and a Wounded In Action medal on April 6 for bravery in December 1988 when he chased and engaged a suspected auto thief, taking six shots at the suspect after being wounded in the shoulder.

Wind tears roof at Foxworth Galbraith plant
A strong whirl wind ripped 68 feet from the Foxworth Galbraith Lumber Co. roof around 1 30 pm on Saturday causing damage to the open storage building and scattering sheet metal into San Antonio street and the yard. Local manager Brian Starck quotes 56 500 in damages. Border Patrol officers helped remove debris from the street. Dust and wind later toppled tree limbs across Marta with a light rain failing to settle the dust.
