Glenn Garcia vice president of The Marfa National Bank recently finished the Twelfth Annual Texas Tech School on Banking. The weeklong program featured 25 seminars on current banking issues with sessions from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. He and partners ran a billion dollar model bank during an orientation and noted half the seminars covered operating such banks while the rest addressed deregulation and increased regulators.

Not Guilty Verdict In Alpine Geologist Killing Trial

Historic ranch house burns in Kelly Ranch fire
Lightning ignited a blaze at the Kelly Ranch owned by Mr and Mrs Cleaves McDonnald on Monday night. Valentine and Fort Davis firemen arrived around 9 p m and containment kept the fire from spreading beyond the main building, protecting surrounding structures.

Driver License Office Closures Announced for Two Tuesdays
The Marfa Driver's License Division of the Texas DPS will close for the next two Tuesdays. Alpine office remains open Monday to Friday from 1:30 p.m. to p.m. for renewals and written tests only during the period. Marfa reopens Tuesday July 2.
