In a September 13 message from Washington DC Pvt Albert RK Bair writes of traveling by train from Hoboken to an unknown destination with three trains of 12 carriages. He praises the regiment and their qualification badges, notes weight and fitness of the men, and promises to write again when possible while asking family to not worry if miscommunications occur.
The fragmentary notice mentions Mr. and Mrs. FE. Bair and unspecified persons connected to wartime service. Details are unreadable, leaving the exact person, unit, and location unclear.
A wartime letter dated August 12 from Loyd Chippard in France to his parents expresses concern for family back home and updates on camp life.
