An elephant from Gentry Brothers' circus broke loose near Fredericktown last Wednesday, terrorizing residents and damaging property. The animal roamed the town, toppled a fence, and frightened locals until recaptured by handlers. several damage claims were paid afterward.
In early croup symptoms the child shows agitation and cold symptoms with a rapid pulse and breathing difficulty. Our correspondents report health is good for Frank McDaniel who works at De Soto and is connected with local homesottee. Several youths from Marble Hill were seen on the streets Sunday while many Marble Hill boys joined excursions to St Louis. Mrs Mollie Brots a teacher from Lateaville public school visited her home folks near Glen Allen Saturday. Miss Mary Riley of Bismark is visiting here with friends and relatives. Miss Fiora Berryman is visiting Marble Hill currently.
Health is very good at present. Public school advances under C Zimmerman and Mr Zimmerman. He searched for a helpmate before taking charge. H C Masters and Miss Crow wed at Crose Ronda Church last Thursday with Rev C C Lyerly officiating. Sedgewickville Academy and training school to begin Sept 29 with Prof Lyerly as principal. Recommendation given for value received.
Dan Corbin made a business trip to Cape Girardeau recently. I N Kirk s wife presented him a fine girl last Tuesday. Mother and babe, getting along nicely, but he may recover. Cal Wagoner s family visited Fount Muyferd s last Sunday. A W Ashcraft made a business trip through Bollinger County last week. At Zalma last Saturday I spoke with Judge James about county finances. Miss Maude Wiggins and Blanche Ashcraft visited their parents last Sunday. John McCullough of Hiram was visiting here last week. Vance Wagener and Ode Kirk went to St Louis on the excursion Sunday. The Mayfield-Smith Academy opened last week with 27 eighth grade students in the academic department. Two teachers divide ten classes each at 56 minutes per class, allowing thorough instruction. The academy will not admit younger children, deeming the public school suitable for them. The newly refreshed interior shines with tinted walls floors oiled and blackboards renewed. Guests for the opening included Mra. A J Birfield Mra. Herbert Clark and Mr Wilvon Roberta with F M Wells J S Lane and Board of Trustees member J L Robertson among others. Lifayette Shrum visited Friday afternoon.

He claims it cured years of indigestion and endorses the remedy to friends, stating a second bottle helped and noting a 100 price tag. The letter appears to reflect a promotional testimonial from a private individual.
