Man Who Broke Bloomfield Jail Nabbed Near Clarkton

Last Thursday around 2 PM Constable R A Mitchell received a tip that Robert Matheny, who escaped Bloomfield jail last February, was working about five and a half miles southeast of Clarkton. Mitchell alerted Bloomfield Prosecuting Attorney George Munger, who urged immediate action. Mitchell located Matheny at his work site and moved to arrest him.

Bob Robinson and Matheny escaped from jail in Hurler county after recruiting three others to join. Matheny fled to a different hiding place before lettering authorities about a spreading influenza.
