Two more new pupils enrolled Monday Dece O Kelley of Patton and Miss Lowe of Marble Hill bringing enrollment to 63. Clarence Berry returned from a visit to relatives and the fair. Rev Ed Stovall filled the pulpit at Gran last Sunday. Prof Russell Allen teaches in the south end of the county.
Farmers enjoy fine weather as Elizabeth Jones recovers from fever and Hershel Lexsley and Alice Hartwick with typhoid show signs of improvement. Fritz Nasser’s relatives visit, a child dies from whooping cough, and other small community movements include relocations and work shifts.
Democratic candidates drew strong support as Republicans drew few listeners. Hon M R Smith spoke to a full house while L W Barrett escorted Hy Shell orphans to the Masonic home in St Louis. The World’s Fair drew many locals despite some delays. A collector named Dickey collected funds, gypsies performed at Woodman hall, and typhoid sickened Mrs Dixon. A bear hunt in Arkansas yielded sightings of wild turkeys. Dr William Lawes moved his drug store to a new, modern premises. C Cook continues in the narrative.
In last week’s write up the paper overlooked candidate for administrator W P McCans. He has served the people in this role and no known opposition to his record has emerged. He will be elected again next Tuesday.
