Castoria remedies and a June clearance sale noted

An old newspaper fragment lists Castoria for infants and a June clearance sale at Taylor Mercantile Company Marble Hill urging heavy cuts on all merchandise with a free dish for every $10 purchase. It also reports obituaries and local notices including a veteran draft registration instruction and a death in Perry county.

Tornado injures eleven in Lith ium Perry County

Eleven residents were badly hurt when a tornado swept Lith ium nine miles from Perryville causing ten buildings to collapse. Fisher's brick store and nine frame homes were demolished as the tornado path stretched a quarter mile. Wires were down hindering casualty reports and names. Cape Girardeau telephone company reported the incident and casualty figures.

Start a Ford in Cold Weather Folklore

A staff writer recalls an odd replying ritual for starting a Ford in freezing weather.
