The Curious Case of Boland Alias Gardner Arrest
In Albany and Brooklyn a florist named Boland alias Gardner is linked to a chain of thefts involving altered checks. A teller flagged a large check signed “Bearer” and then noticed a prior similar skip in the morning. Boland attempted to cash the altered instrument, was seized by Drinkertons, and sent to Sing Sing after a county court appearance.
