A cluttered Democrat primary slate announces candidates for Bollinger and Ballinger counties. Names include Willis Meredith, William McCans, Coome Myers, Thierry Mungle, Wes Lutes, Lilburn Page, John Nenninger, Eli James, Jacob Wieckarver, J. W. Reilly, BE Kinder, and RN Hatn. The notices urge Democratic voters to decide in the primary and express views on education, tariffs, roads, and local governance.
The Ballinger Democratic Central Committee requests a full turnout for a meeting at Markie Hill on Saturday June 7. Chairman F. M. WeEtLs and Secretary Kaw J. McMinn urge attendance to transact important business and extend thanks to The Press editors.
A candidate pledges to run for Representative in Missouri with August 1, 1908 as the primary date. He notes long residence in Bollinger County and history of education at institutions in West Virginia and Pike County. Admitted to the bar in 1887 but states he has not practiced law.
Our correspondents report health is very good and corn rapid in growth while farmers near completion of a light wheat crop. The Lespold brass band enjoyed Herman Landewe’s Sunday gathering and shows improving prospects. Young ladies from Leopold visited Mary Macke, and George Wosenfelt’s five year old, scarred weeks ago, slowly improves. The early potato crop seems to be good this season.
At Trace Creek church on June St a large crowd gathered for children's day with devotional opening, Sunday school procession led by superintendent J W Coch, and a program including songs and recitations. A boun tif dinner followed. attendees came from nearby towns Marquand Bessville Lutesville and Dongil.
Farmers plow and harvest in poor conditions while local residents make travel and work changes. Johnson Wiseman left for Paragould Arkansas to visit his father. A Hulshof buys stock locally. Rev Henry George is ill. Peter Bess runs a new binder. William Johnson moved to Kraukman to work as a fireman at a stave factory. A Bessville writer is praised and a birth is noted for Mr and Mrs Albert Bess.
Rural notes report healthy general health, harvests near end with poor wheat quality, corn planting underway. Huskey farmers unite. local union prospers and promises stay. Road improvement urged via local fundraising, labor payments, and district subscriptions. citizens urged to organize and support via county court and merchants. Shelby Strong's shooting noted. Jeff Spivey recovering from illness.
County Clerk announces a primary election in Belinger County Missouri with polls open 7 am to 6 pm and sunset rule. Lists candidate names and offices for Governor Lieutenant Governor Secretary of State State Auditor State Treasurer Attorney General Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner Supreme Court judges St Louis Court of Appeals district judges and various county offices. Names span Republican Democratic Socialist Prohibition and People's parties with offices and post offices.
