Missouri Republican Committee Meeting in St Louis Debates Subtreasury Loss
Missouri Republican state committee meetings in St Louis debated a preamble condemning a $61,500 loss in the national subtreasury and calling for full restitution. Southeast News reports farmer James Hinkle is said to have been poisoned by his one year old wife who was arrested and jailed. A letter from Duval who worked for Hinkle last summer suggests a conspiracy to remove the deceased. Duval was arrested in Illinois and may be in Scott County jail. The report notes late burglars stole 25 dollars in cash jewelry from B F Earles store and money from Morley post office on Jan 24. Lyman Bridgestaneht Praised as District’s Top Educator
The Hurricane school closed on January 17 with strong praise for Mr. Lyman Bridgestaneht as one of the district’s most successful teachers. Elder patrons witnessed the closing exercises as the community gathered with baskets and ample food, and plans for an extra day were dropped due to measles.

Zalnig Rebekah Lodge moved to a new Charleston area site on January 6 with Sister Martha Portlock as RevS and Sister Mary Blomyer as treasurer. District Deputy Sister Martha Portlock presided. officers include Mrs. Lectin King as Noble Grand, Miss Eithel Corbin as NOG, Mrs. Cora Taes as Vol., and other appointees. The lodge, instituted November 10, has 107 members with applications pending. a February 6 hall dedication is planned and observers praise the work and future under divine guidance.

Mrs. Mary Frances Statler aged 63 died January 21 1908 at the family home four miles east of Sedrowickville. She leaves a husband Jacob Statler and ten children and was buried at New Salem cemetery Daisy. A member of Sargent Chapel Lutheran church she lived a devout life and spoke of faith to her pastor before passing.
