Letters From France and County Court Proceedings
A collection of World War I era letters from members of the U S Army in France report front-line experiences and home-front concerns including mail, finances, sleep disruption, and remarks on soldiers and a Home Guard. The county court section lists numerous salaries, disbursements, road work, hospital admissions, and official orders from the county court, overseers, and auditors with details on payments and staff.
Opening of the Normal School at Cape Girardeau
The Normal school at Cape Girardeau opens September 2, 1918, with a 15 week fall term and a 16 week December term. The two form the regular year, followed by a spring term April 21 to August 19. Military training begins fall term under an Army officer. six students and one faculty member trained at Fort Sheridan in July. Address W. S. Dearmont, President, for information.
