In a recent Missouri grand jury session new features of the local option law were discussed and many true bills returned. In Stoddard county it is strongly implied that giving whisky is unlawful, with prosecutions underway for distributing drinks, and bonds set for appearance before the Circuit court.
The grand jury finished its investigations and adjourned Friday. They returned a great many indictments with some tried and guilty verdicts. The paper endorses Prosecutor Almon Ing and his crusade against gamblers and liquor dealers, urging citizens to support his effort. Greenville Sun.
A cutout from a 19th or early 20th century farming publication details a Whitewash recipe using quicklime, salt, rice, glue, and Spanish whiten, plus steps to prepare and apply it. Tommy Dee Witt of Batesville Ark visits his father John Dee Witt this week with his niece. Mrs. Effie Porterfield and daughter visit Mrs. Caldwell last Sunday. Young departs Monday for Edno Mo on business. Miss Ola Murphy hosts friends recently. AS Sparks of Buchanan visits Flatwoods Sunday. Grandma Montgomery of Gip sy visits Mrs T J Young this week. Health is good and planting transitions to corn as gardens thrive. Miss Bertha Propst visited Mrs. Vady Chandler, while Mrs. May Cole and daughter visited W. A. Propst’s family. Len Slinkard hauled logs for W. A. Propst this week. A horse was stolen from Mrs. Alex Pierce Monday night. it reappeared Tuesday morning with a saddle, presumed to have escaped from the thief.
A partial report notes a thief was around Mr. Wallace's barn the same night but no property was stolen. Frank Propst of near Lutesville visited brothers W. A. in this place and J. W. in Millersville last week, his first trip in 11 years. Acar Cuo1.r.
Union Ridge notes an array of local visits including Jasper Wright and wife to Mrs Wright’s parents the Stones. George Stone ill, Miss Mayme Baker hired to teach next year, and Emma Dora Barks with brothers at a wedding in Marble Hill. Cleve Mungle injured cutting bolts. George Grindstaff moved to a new farm. Mrs Barks lauded for strawberry patch and fence orders.
Health is very good among locals. Jack Frost visited and likely spoiled much fruit. C. K. Wann trip to Lutesville last week. George Dunn, clerking for W. C. Myers, may move to Fredericktown. Sam J. McMinn of Marble Hill visited family and farm interests. Dee Walker and Ernie Condor married recently. Josie Luffey from Butte City Montana visits relatives here and may teach next winter. Pattonites enjoy good health as fine weather aids crop planting. R L Robinson and family visited relatives in Oklahoma last week. Henry Hartle transacted business at Marquand Tuesday. Dr J P Dalton of Sedgerville visits sons near Patton. David Robinson digs a well on his lot. Z A O Kelly plans a fine barn. Sunday School attendance noted. Liberty services attended by many Patton residents. The Patton band shows promising progress and T A Fulton teaches guocoul music at Mt Carmel. James Burdiso and Miss Maggie Robinson united in marriage.
