Soils of the Ozarks Offer Longer Growing Season

The farmer across southern Missouri and northern Arkansas enjoys more planting, cultivating, and harvest days due to a mild climate and longer growing season. Ozark soils, largely limestone and clay with some flint, reproduce fertile fields without artificial fertilizer, while rainfall supports large crops. The upland is hilly with narrow valleys, rich alluvial valleys, and a timber reserve suitable for pine growth across multiple counties and regions.
