City Council Actions Include Fines and Street Rules
The city council discussed penalties for nonpayment of fines with a ball and chain for the first convicted drunk. They banned street burning of trash in ditches, ordered a walk from Rev G Chadwell’s house to D A Taylor’s property, and planned a crossing near that residence. Bids for the crossing were to be sought, weeds along Ozark Trails were to be cut before Trails delegates arrive at Springfield, and the city’s telephone line was to be installed at City Marshal BH. E. Strong’s home.
