The town celebrated the cornerstone ceremony for the 16000 high school building last Thursday despite earlier rain threats. Col Frederick D Gardner of St Louis spoke on Problems of Our Day, urging support for the Missouri Land Bank bill and farm prosperity through education and road improvements. Gardner proposed a five year $5 million tax plan on auto owners to fund roads and argued for a Missouri Land Bank to lend up to 50 percent of land value to farmers with bonds issued against mortgages.

Town districts may levy up to $1 while rural districts cannot exceed GK.
Enos Lakey died Tuesday after an extended illness. Born September 8, 1446, he was 68 years, 3 months and 23 days old. A Moody Freewill Baptist member, funeral held yesterday at Moody church with Rev. Charles Findley officiating. Interment in Moody cemetery. He is survived by three daughters and two sons. wife preceded him in death about 15 years ago.
