The message from Dewey Brennan, son of Mrs J A Edwards formerly of Manafield, is reprinted from the Blackwell Daily News. Dated August 1 1917 from Governors Island New York City he describes arrival at camp offshore from New York, crossing rivers and tunnels, traveling through several states, and expects sailing for France in two weeks. He sends love to his mother and family and asks after Chicago and Candia.
A Cincinnati man promotes a cold dry Freezone remedy to shrink corns or calluses. He asserts it dries instantly without inflaming surrounding skin and that a small bottle suffices to remove hard or soft corns from feet. The ad notes supply via druggists and urges ordering if unavailable. Also mentions COM Howland’s Test week move from Colorado with farm acreage and Colorado crops.
The Mansfield Special Road District in Wright County Missouri submits a financial statement covering the period since March 4. The report shows balances and receipts totaling 12 590 28 dollars with listed items including land balances and charity warrants. A. Fuson serves as president with J H Dennis as secretary.

Sheriff Charles G. Sanders advertises a sale under a general execution from the Wright County Circuit Court. The real property described includes parts of section 27 in township 28, range 15, in Hartville, to be sold September 4 at the courthouse door for cash to satisfy the execution against J D Avery.
